Dierections:
From the South: Go north on I-95. At the intersection with 495 (the Beltway) continue straight ahead. 95 will become 395. Take the Seminary Rd. exit and follow signs for Seminary Rd. West. Turn left at the 3rd stoplight, Echols Ave. Go to the end of Echols and turn left. Turn right immediately on to Forrestal. Go one block. Turn right on St. John Place. We are on the corner of Forrestal and St. John Place.

From Arlington: Take George Mason Dr. south to the end. (You will cross Columbia Pike and Rt. 7). George Mason turns into Seminary Rd. in the Skyline Plaza area. Turn right on Echols Ave. and follow above instructions.

From Maryland (I-270): Go south on I-270 and join 495 into Virginia. Take the first VA exit for the GW Parkway. Follow the parkway past the CIA, past Rt. 123, past Roslyn, and past the turnoff for the Teddy Roosevelt Bridge. Take the right hand exit marked To 395. Go past the Pentagon on your left and join 395 south. Go to the Seminary Rd. exit and follow signs for Seminary Rd. West. Turn left at the 3rd stoplight, Echols Ave. Go to the end of Echols and turn left. Turn right immediately on to Forrestal. Go one block. Turn right on St. John Place. We are on the corner of Forrestal and St. John Place.

From Maryland (Woodrow Wilson Bridge): Cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in the Local lanes. Get off at Telegraph Rd. Follow signs for Telegraph Rd. north, towards Duke St. Continue straight on Telegraph Rd. following signs for Duke St./Rt. 236 west. Go aprox. ½ mile and turn right on Quaker Lane. Go to the top of the hill and turn left at the first stop light. It will say Seminary Rd. on the left and Janney’s Lane on the right. Continue on Seminary until you cross over I-395. Turn left at the 3rd stoplight, Echols Ave. Go to the end of Echols and turn left. Turn right immediately on to Forrestal. Go one block. Turn right on St. John Place. We are on the corner of Forrestal and St. John Place.

From Rt. 424 South, turn right onto Rt. 214 (Central Avenue) WEST.
Travel approximately 1 Mile on 214 to Foxhall Drive on the LEFT (Lakemont Cemetery and the Davidsonville Elementary School are directly across the street from the entrance to our development).
Make a LEFT onto Foxhall drive.
We are the 5th house on the right.

AHS NATIONAL CONVENTION

The 2010 convention will be held in Valdosta, GA, May 27 through May 29. Pre-registration is required. Available seats will fill fast. Plant Sale at the National Arboretum

The date for Spring Plant Sale at the National Arboretum is April 23-24, 2010. Sales on Friday April 23 will be open to FONA members and workers only from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday the 24th sales are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.


AHS Region 3 Meeting -- June 25-27, 2010

Tidewater Daylily Society (TIDS) is sponsoring the 2010 AHS Region 3 Meeting. The site will be in Norfolk, VA. Sign up early and plan for warm weather. See TIDS web page for additional information.


Annual Daylily Flower Show July 10 1:30 p.m.

        Bare Root Daylily Sales

It's free and open to all. Doors open at 1:30 to the public, 7:30 for exhibitors. The show includes educational exhibits, lectures, demonstrations, and a judged display of registered cultivars on and off scape. This year we are holding the daylily show at Green Spring Gardens Horticultural Center in Alexandria, VA The center is just off Rt 395, three miles inside the Capital Beltway.

NCDC Garden Tour -- Saturday July 24, 2010 (changed from origional date)

This year's garden tour will be a bus trip to several gardens toward the Maryland/Pennsylvania line above Baltimore. Current selections are the gardens of Judith Applefeld and Joan Miller. As particulars for the bus trip become available, they will be posted in the newsletter and on this site.


NCDC Maryland Daylily Sale and Club Plant Auction

The sale is located at Brookside Gardens, next to the Visitors Center, 1800 Glenallan Road, Wheaton MD. Bargain plants will be $5 per double fan (bare roots) and will be arranged by color and form. "Special" plants will be at a slightly higher price (still a bargain).

Brookside will also host our annual Daylily Auction for returning club plants. These plants have been grown and proven in member's gardens for a minimum of 2 years. The auction will take place at noon. Look for some top of the line plants. We hope to have photos for you to drool over.

Fall Picnic, General Membership Meeting, and Elections

The Fall Picnic will be held on September 11th at noon in the garden of Sherley Channing in VA. This event is free. Try to bring a pot luck dish to share. There will be a plant/garden item exchange. Bring something interesting if you wish to participate.

Lilyhemmer

A Region 3 Fall Festival in Camp Hill, PA with an evening of greeting old friends and then 2 fun-filled days of activities: speakers, a silent auction, a live auction, raffels, a banquet, and more. The hospitality room is always a great place to meet and talk daylilies, especially on Friday evening before the event. This activity raises funds for our Region and supports the printing of Fanfare our beautiful Region 3 newsletter.
